❗MMC Alum Function of Historic Amazon Labor Union Win❗ Amazon workers at the Staten Island warehouse known as JFK8 voted to form the company's beginning spousal relationship on Friday, April one, 2022. Among the organizers was MMC grad Justine Medina '12. Medina was recruited as a "table salt," pregnant she applied for a chore at Amazon specifically to aid the unionization try. Once Medina began working at JFK8, she was able to build a coalition with the other workers and combat Amazon'southward wedlock-busting efforts. For every "Vote NO" sign on the walls and mandated anti-union meeting, Medina and her young man organizers had a chat with the people around them. They built bonfires outside for workers who had to wait for their motorcoach in the common cold, brought dwelling-cooked meals to workers who had merely gotten off twelve-hr shifts, and raised money for a recently-fired employee who had go homeless. Over time, the message became clear: workers help workers. It has been an amazing journey! I take learned so many things about myself throughout my undergrad years, and I feel prepared for my adjacent steps.
